Since
the antiquity, at the northern edges of the mount Kalavros -at the
boundaries between Thessalonica and Chalkidiki prefecture- there
was a spring where plenty of water was bubbling up the ground, forming
a small lake, which was brimming and ended to the little river Anthemountas
(Athemous means "decorated with flowers in Greek) through a
picturesque gully and a bewitching landscape.
Local legends fable that the nobles preferred the refreshing cool
water from Souroti spring for their symposiums. Myth also has it
that Alexander the Great regularly visited the spring to partake
of its valuable waters.
In 1900, the first houses began to be built near the spring and
during World War I French officers were filled with enthusiasm by
the exceptional quality of the water, so much that they set up the
first rudimentary bottling plant.
In 1917, the Serbs who settled here with the Serbian Morava Division
built a two-storey structure housing the bottling plant, and called
the water from the spring 'Kiisela Voda' - which means sub-acidic
water.
After the end of the war, a resident of Souroti village by the name
of Thomas Ch. Lolas, took over the bottling plant and renovated
it. In 1935 the spring is officially recognized as a spa spring.
Course
In 1987, the SOUROTI Mineral Water Bottling Enterprise was formed.
It turned into a SA in 1998 and embarked on a promotion campaign
all over Greece. It provided various sponsorships for cultural and
sports events and gave new impetus to its development. In the following
years it took up a market share of more than 40% in the field of
sparkling natural mineral waters and dynamically expanded its exports.
SOUROTI is undoubtedly the leader in the Greek market with 60 million
bottles and 25 million aluminum cans per year proving it.

Facilities
SOUROTI waters are being bottled in the modern facilities of Souroti
location at North Greece.
A highly qualified scientific team carries out all necessary inspections
and tests on a daily basis, which are required during all stages
of the production process in order to fully guarantee the hygiene
and security of Souroti products.
The company has four complete production lines, high-tech machinery,
140 highly skilled employees, building facilities covering 7.500
m2 and a branch in Athens.

Contemporary bottling, quality control, obeying the hygiene rules,
and safe distribution of the products coupled with the unconstrained
contribution of nature are the absolutely necessary standards in
order for our products to reach our consumers in excellent condition.

In 1992 in Madrid SOUROTI S.A. won the international Gold Star Quality
Prize, which is awarded to the world’s best products.
This worldwide distinction proved once again the high quality of
Souroti’s unique water.
The SAFETY of the water is directly linked to human health.
SOUROTI applies a Quality Management System in accordance with the
ISO9001 standard as well as the Food Safety Management System in
accordance with the ISO22000 standard. These systems are certified
by the Hellenic Standardization Organization (ELOT).
This means that all stages of the production process are in compliance
with the international standards and the existing EU and Greek legislation.

SOUROTI
The Souroti natural mineral water bubbles up from the homonymous
historical spring in the bowel of Cholomontas Mountain.
From the antiquity to the present day, the water of Souroti spring,
which comes from the homonymous area at the boundaries of Thessaloniki
and Chalikidi prefecture, is renowned for its exceptional quality
and therapeutic capacities.
Water flowing in the substrata is slow-moving and as it passes through
the various rocks it is filtered and enriched with beneficial elements
giving it its unique mineral composition and distinctive taste.
Water in the spring is cold at a steady temperature of around 16
°C and its quality remains undiminished over time. Its rich content
in minerals makes it one of the world’s most enriched mineral waters.
Souroti water has been recognized as a sub-acidic sparkling Natural
Mineral Water rich in calcium and magnesium in accordance with EU
legislation.
It is also included in the European Union’s list of Natural Mineral
Waters.
It contains 180mg calcium and 55mg magnesium. One liter of SOUROTI
provides around 1/5 of the daily requirement of calcium and around
1/6 of the daily requirement of magnesium for adults.
It also contains valuable trace elements that have a positive impact
on the human organism. It is very refreshing and digestive assisting
the proper functioning of the digestive and urinary system. It is
also beneficial for the nervous and muscular system.
SOUROTI contains no calories or preservatives. It can be drunk plain
or mixed with various alcoholic drinks.
In terms of its undiminished quality over time, analyses have shown
that the mineral content of Souroti water today remains unchanged
compared to that in 1914 when the first water analysis was performed,
since nature has imbued it with so many valuable trace elements
and minerals, the like of which is not to be found anywhere.
Thus,
in the case of SOUROTI we can say that once more NATURE HAS PROVIDED
THE SOLUTION.

YDOR SOUROTIS
The top-quality natural, non-sparkling water “Ydor Sourotis” is
drawn from the same area, the Anthemounta area.
Ydor Sourotis owes its excellent quality to the rock formations
at Anthemounta. The water comes into contact with them as it springs
up from a depth of 180m and various beneficial elements are dissolved
in it.
Its special features are a high magnesium content with the ideal
calcium to magnesium ratio and a low sodium and nitrate content.
Its perfect chemical balance combined with its clarity, nutrients,
minerals and trace elements make this a top-quality water.

SOUROTEA – ICE TEA
Two new products of SOUROTI S.A. are here to complement the range
of its products. With a smart brand name and avant-garde packaging,
SOUROTEA with lemon and SOUROTEA with peach make a different flavorsome
market proposal. SOUROTI S.A. puts its signature on these new products
